Not only reducing environmental impact by optimal navigation using accurate and high-resolution weather and ocean data of POLARIS, visualization of the operation status and data sharing between ship and land are realized.
Marusan Kaiun’s new domestic containership “Shimakaji”(built by Yamanaka Shipbuilding: 1,594 tons) made its maiden voyage in Osaka-Okinawa route, end of July 2021. The new vessel has adopted POLARIS Navigation, an optimal route service of the Japan Weather Association, to enhance its capability for optimal route planning. On the bridge of Shimakaji, weather and ocean forecasts and optimal route information of POLARIS can be displayed on ”Operation Supporter”, the ECS(Electronic Chart System). Then, these information is shared on “Aisea Pro”, maritime digital platform made by Aidea Inc. Aisea Pro also shares and visualizes data on various kind of ship data other than POLARIS between ship and shore in nearly real time.
“Shimakaji“, which has realized digital transformation by making the best use of these technologies, is attracting attention as the "state-of-the-art domestic vessels" of the future.
